- Where do you get this love for sneakers? / Desde cuando ese amor hacia las zapatillas?

My love for sneakers started around the same time i began skating, 1999. Companies like DC, Audio, and Fallen footwear where making shoes with extra fat tongues and crazy designs, they just caught my eye and the rest is history.

Mi afición por las zapatillas comenzó a la vez que comencé a hacer skate, sobre 1999. Compañias como DC, Adio y Fallen footwear, estaban sacando zapatillas con las lenguetas enormes y diseños muy locos, eso fue lo que me llamó la atención, el resto es historia.

- How many pairs do you have? / Cuantos pares tienes?

I don’t know if i can give an exact number. I’ve skated a few pairs so the number fluctuates a lot, also i have a smaller foot then most so getting a lot of the more limited releases is pretty much out the question. But if i had to guess i’d say about 100-150 pairs

No lo se, no podría dar un numero exacto. Me he cargado patinando muchos pares, con lo que el numero va variando, además, tengo el pie pequeño, con lo que conseguir lanzamientos limitados es más sencillo. Pero si tengo que decir un numero, seria entre 100 y 150 pares

- What type of collector would you consider yourself? / Que tipo de coleccionista te consideras?

I don’t know if i can call myself a collector, even though i tend to buy more skate orientated shoes then any other type.

No se si considerarme coleccionista, además intento comprar zapatillas orientadas al skate antes que otro tipo de zapatillas

- What is more important to you—quality or quantity? / Que es más importante para ti . Calidad o cantidad?

Quality is always gonna be more important then quantity. Anyone can buy 300-400 pairs of shoes and say i have TONS of shoes. but how many of those shoes are actually worth having?

La calidad siempre va a estar por delante de la cantidad. Cualquiera puede comprar 300 o 400 pares y decir que tiene toneladas de zapatillas. pero de esos pares cuales son de de calidad/especiales (limitados, raros, etc…)

- Which sneakers are your absolute favorite? Do you own them? / Que zapatillas son tus favoritas? Las posees?

My favorite pair might have to be the NIke SB MF Dooms, O.G Jordan XIII’s  and the Space jams but who doesn’t love those.

- Of the sneakers on the market now, which do you think stand out the most? Why? / De las zapas que hay ahora mismo en el mercado , cuales crees que son las que mas destacan? Porqué?

Well as far as technologically as a skater i’d say the Omar Salazar pro model, which finally introduces flywire into Nike’s SB line. Aesthetically the Yeezy’s are incredible, Supra Skytops, and skytop II’s are personal favorites and i think the LeBron VIII’s are sick.

Bien, tecnológicamente en el plano del skate, debo decir las Pro model de Omar Salazar, que han acabado introduciendo el flywire dentro de la linea de Nike SB. Esteticamente, las Yeezy’s son increibles. Las Supra Skytop y las Skytop 2 son mis favoritas a nivel personal y pienso que las LeBron 8 son tremendas.

- How do you view the sneaker scene in your country? / Como ves la escena sneaker en tu país?

I see it as an ever growing community, because I’m a little bit younger then some of the other sneakerheads i’ve missed out on a few pairs that i really liked and wanted, through online forums and communities i’ve met people who appreciate kicks as much as i do and have given me the opportunity through events like the DXC (Dunk Exchange), and SneakerCon i’d otherwise not have to get my hands on those older classics kicks.

Veo que hay una comunidad siempre en crecimiento, pero yo, al ser algo joven comparado con otros sneakerheads, me he perdido las releases de algunos pares que realmente me hubiese encantado poder tener. A traves de los foros y las comunidades online, he podido encontrar gente que aprecia las zapatillas  mucho más que yo y que me han dado la oportunidad , a traves de eventos como el DXC (dunk exchange) y el sneakercon,  de conseguir esas zapatillas que de otra manera me hubiese sido imposible echarles el guante.

- In today´s sneaker scene, what do you think there are too much of and what do you think it is lacking? / Actualmente en la escena sneaker , que crees que falta y que sobra?

Aside from resellers, I’d say the constant re-releasing of classics. Now i realize retro drops give the a second life to old school kicks, and a younger audience an opportunity to get that pair their older brother/cousin had.But when people begin comparing a once signature shoe the Air Jordan 1 to the Air Force 1 i think it’s a little to much. The market feels like it’s being flooded with retros and re-retros.

Aparte de los resellers, me gustaria nombrar la constante reedición de clásicos. Se que los lanzamientos de las retro le proporcionan una segunda vida a las zapatillas viejas, y le brindan la oportunidad a los coleccionistas más jovenes de poderse hacer con esos pares que su hermano mayor o su primo sí tienen. Pero cuando la gente comienza a comparar entre las jordan 1 y las air force 1, creo que eso ya es demasiado. El mercado se está saturando de retros y re-retros

- What is the craziest thing you have done to get a pair of sneakers? / Cual es la mayor locura que has hecho para conseguir un par de zapas?

I’m not one to stand in line for kicks, that’s never really been my thing. I’d rather not set myself up for disappointment if i really want that pair of kicks i’ll find some other way. As far as the craziest thing, I’m sure some people have some interesting stories, but the craziest thing i even did was convince a friend of mine to drive me 4 hours to Boston just so i can get my hands on a pair of lobsters. He was pretty upset but in the end i got what i wanted

No soy el tipico que se pone a hacer cola por unas zapatillas, nunca ha ido conmigo. No me como la cabeza si no las puedo conseguir, si las quiero, busco otra manera de hacerme con ellas. Lo más loco, creo que habrá gente con historias más interesantes, pero lo más loco que he hecho fue convencer a un amigo para que llevase en coche, en un viaje de 4 horas a Boston, para poder pillar un par de Lobsters. Se cabreo un poco, pero finalmente consegui lo que queria.

- Do you usually go to the store on the day of the release to buy sneakers or wait until they are available on the Internet? / Normalmente vas a la tienda el día de la release para comprarte las zapas o esperas a que estén disponibles en Internet?

Depending on the shoe and where or when it’s gonna drop. I normally like to go to stores to pick up my kicks, especially boutiques in the city who i feel appreciate sneaker culture. But if i know i’m not gonna be able to get them in store i’ll hit up some online shops.

Dependiendo de la zapatilla y de donde y cuando se vaya a lanzar. Normalmente me gusta ir a las tiendas a por las zapatillas, especialmente a tiendas en la ciudad, que se que sienten y aprecian la cultura de las zapatillas. Pero si se que me va a ser imposible conseguirlas en tienda, entonces lo intento via on-line

- What is your favorite memory involving sneakers (ex: a camp out the night before a release, etc.) / Cual es tu mejor recuerdo relacionado con las zapatillas ( ex : acampar por la noche fuera de una tienda para una release , etc )
